Rock On Cinderella

A dozen students from ITEC Training’s Newport academy wowed an audience of parents, staff and their fellow learners with a high-powered, all-singing, all-dancing performance of Rock On Cinderella.

The event, at the YMCA in Mendalgief Road, included a mesmeric solo performance of her own composition by singer Sarah Johns from Ringland, Newport, who accompanied herself on keyboard.

The sound and light system was provided by ITEC internal auditor and part-time DJ Martin Beare, refreshments were supplied by learners who run ITEC’s Skillz training café in Commercial Street, the backdrop was painted by young people on a Bettws training project and a feature fireplace was made by Rachel Stephens at ITEC’s Porth Academy.

Tutor Linda Clayton, who organised the event, said "These young school-leavers are studying everything from basic skills to NVQs. This was a chance for them to display their team and individual talents – and the show was a knockout.

"It was like something out of Fame – all that was missing was a talent scout!"
